Can my employer give a matching gift?
Many donors work for companies that match charitable contributions. MDM participates in employer matching gift programs, most commonly administered through third-party platforms such as CyberGrants and Benevity.
The donor gives to MDM first, on their own or through a missionary's profile page. The donor then separately submits a matching gift request to their employer, naming Modern Day Missions as the recipient organization.
The employer's third-party administrator sends MDM a confirmation request. MDM must verify that the original gift was received before the match is released. Unconfirmed requests will prompt automatic reminders from the administrator until MDM responds.
Matching gifts are frequently designated to the general fund rather than a specific missionary unless the employer's platform allows a designation field. Donors should also communicate their gift, the matching amount and the missionary designation via email to support@modernday.org to ensure proper matching.
