What does Modern Day Missions do and how does it work?
Modern Day Missions (MDM) is a nonprofit organization that provides financial, administrative, and operational infrastructure for missionaries. We serve as the backbone so missionaries can focus on their calling rather than the logistics of running a nonprofit.
Here is what MDM provides:
- Nonprofit covering: MDM's 501(c)(3) nonprofit status allows for a missionary's donor to receive a US tax deduction for their gifts to you. Please note: spiritual/ministry covering for individual missionaries must come from a separate formal church or nonprofit.
- Donation processing: MDM receives donations on your behalf through the DonorGive platform and disburses funds to you on a monthly payment schedule.
- Donor management: Donors can give one-time or set up recurring monthly giving directly on your profile page or through your personalized giving link, which can be included in emails.
- Administrative support: MDM handles the financial compliance, 1099 reporting, and operational infrastructure, so you don't have to.
- Fundraising coaching: MDM's fundraising coach meets with every new missionary to build a personalized support-raising strategy.
Note: MDM does not provide direct financial support to missionaries. Missionaries are considered independent contractors (1099) with relation to their association with Modern Day. Modern Day is an independent third party. We process and disburse donations that your donors give. If you are not raising donations, you will not receive payments from MDM. MDM is a platform and infrastructure provider, not a grant-maker or direct funder.
